Aerva javanica (Burm. f.) Juss. ex Schult.

Synonym- A. persica (Burm.f.)MerillA. tomentosa Frosk.
Family- Amaranthaceae.
Habitat- Punjab, Central and Peninsular India.
English- Javanese Wool Plant.
Siddha/Tamil- Perumpoolai.
Folk- Dholphuli, Khul. Paashaanabheda(southern India).
Action- Anti-inflammatory, diuretic,anticalculus, insecticidal. Wooly seeds are used against rheumatism.
The plant extract contains ascorbic acid, kaempferol, beta-amyrin and beta-sitosterol. The leaves also contain sitosterol and its glucoside.
